Recycled paper – According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), uncoated paper is considered “recycled” if it contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer content, and a minimum of 10% for coated papers. Corrugated and other packaging board also requires varying amounts of post-consumer content. Eco-Appeal offers board and paper choices containing up to 100% post-consumer content.
Vegetable-based inks – Today’s vegetable-based inks look and perform as well as petroleum-based inks, but contain very low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can damage soil and groundwater and cause air pollution.
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) – The FSC is independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) – SFI, Inc. is a fully independent, charitable organization dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management.
FSC-certified and SFI-certified paper products have been monitored from forest to finished product to ensure only sustainable, legal, environmentally-friendly practices have been used in their manufacture.
